Other than these two, the whole tech community has been surprised by the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE from Samsung. This move will bring foldables within budget and reach of everyone. Both Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 are the first smartphones to be shipped with Android 16.
Galaxy Z Fold 7: Slimmer and Smarter

If you have enjoyed using the Galaxy Z Fold 6, then the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is going to bring a far better experience for you. In terms of functionality and visually, it is one step above its previous version.
Design and Display
Samsung’s thinnest and lightest Fold to date, without sacrificing on premium quality. The phone is now an all-time thin 8.9mm in folded form. It is down from 12.1mm on the Fold 6, making it easier to fit in one’s pocket and considerably more convenient for one-handed use. At 215g, it’s also lighter than both the Z Fold 6 (239g) and the Galaxy S25 Ultra (218g).

The cover display extends from 6.3 inches to 6.5 inches, and Samsung has opted for a 21:9 aspect ratio, providing a more organic smartphone experience when the phone is closed. Treated with Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, the exterior screen features 422 PPI and a 120Hz refresh rate for seamless scrolling and eye-popping clarity.
The inner screen is impressive with an 8-inch Dynamic AMOLED screen. It is bigger than the 7.6-inch Fold 6 screen, with 11% bigger views. The screen delivers a visual experience at 368 PPI, 2600 nits of peak brightness, and a 120Hz refresh rate.
Durable Design
Samsung hasn’t only lost the flab, but its hinge system has also changed. The new Armor FlexHinge is narrower and more robust, due to a multi-rail design that provides strength without weight. It’s accompanied by an Armor Aluminum frame, with 10% greater hardness than before.
The IP48 rating provides minimal water resistance, but if you’re off to the beach, don’t let dust get the better of it.
Under the Hood: Snapdragon 8 Elite & Galaxy AI
Under the hood, Samsung is pulling out all the stops. The Fold 7 comes with the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy. For gaming and multitasking, this chip promises to bring flagship-grade performance in all its forms.

But the real significance is of Galaxy AI. Samsung Fold 7 is loaded with smart features that elevate productivity, communication, and creativity. The early impressions suggest that AI is more seamlessly integrated than ever.
Cameras: A Giant Leap Ahead
Perhaps the most thrilling update is in the camera sector. Samsung has finally accorded the Fold series flagship status, coming in with a 200MP primary sensor—a huge departure from the 50MP sensor of the Fold 6.
The camera configuration consists of:
- 200MP main camera
- 12MP ultra-wide
- 10MP telephoto
In my short time with the device, the camera interface was quick and clean. The demo photos were well-lit, colorful, and crisp, but it would take more time to comment on their actual performance under real-world situations.
Variants, Battery, and Charging
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 will come in three versions:
- 12GB RAM + 256GB storage
- 12GB RAM + 512GB storage
- 16GB RAM + 1TB storage
While the majority of the departments received an upgrade, battery life remains unchanged at 4400mAh. It also supports wired charging at 25W, which is said to charge the device up to 50% in 30 minutes—the same as last year’s Fold.
Galaxy Flip 7 and Flip 7 FE: More Options, More Flexibility
The Galaxy Z Flip 7 continues the folded legacy with a small clamshell form. Though not quite as spec-intensive as the Fold 7, it nonetheless enjoys Android 16, One UI 8, and Samsung AI ecosystem.

This year’s surprise entrant is the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE, a budget-friendly foldable bringing the Flip experience to a broader crowd. In terms of design inspiration, it’s very much a lookalike of the Flip 6, but we’ll know more when we get our hands on it.

Final Thoughts: The Foldable Lineup Feels Complete
Samsung is no longer toying around with foldables—it’s creating a full lineup for various consumers. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is positioned towards power users who need it all—productivity, high-end design, and flagship features. The Flip 7 remains sleek and pocket-sized, while the Flip 7 FE makes entry easier for those willing to give foldables a shot without the hefty price.
With Android 16, One UI 8, and Galaxy AI leading the charge, Samsung’s new foldables represent the most complete vision of the future we’ve seen yet.
